About

I am a Senior Lecturer in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. I contribute to the business, enterprise and entrepreneurship education team at Derby Business School via teaching, research and other knowledge exchange activities.

I have experienced higher education in England, Scotland, Germany and Sri Lanka. My industry work experiences are in banking and finance, hospitality, travel and tourism.

I teach in the areas of business and enterprise/entrepreneurship. Examples of modules that I teach include:

Experience in industry

My work experience is in diverse sectors, including nine years in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry where I worked for a few organisations, including global brands. I also worked for nearly two years in banking and finance. I started my career in higher education in 2013.

I am an external examiner for the University of Roehampton and an expert advisor/evaluator for Malta Further and Higher Education Authority.

International experience

I have experienced higher education in England, Scotland, Sri Lanka and Germany whilst living and working there. I used my PhD research project as an opportunity to work closely with a world-class network of enterprise and entrepreneurship educators, researchers, practitioners and policy-makers from around the world. I also work with a global network of design thinkers.

Additional interests and activities

Knowledge exchange and related activities 

I co-lead the impact assessment of Innovate 4 Rail. Funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Innovate 4 Rail is a collaborative project between the University of Derby, the University of Birmingham and Rail Forum Midlands.

In the media

In 2019, my creativity and innovation module students won a UK national competition organised by UK Space Agency. The winners and I were interviewed by BBC Derby.
