About

I am a Lecturer in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. I contribute to the business, enterprise and entrepreneurship education team at Derby Business School via teaching, research and other knowledge exchange activities.

I have experienced higher education in England, Scotland, Germany and Sri Lanka. My industry work experiences are in banking and finance, hospitality, travel and tourism.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach in the areas of business and enterprise/entrepreneurship. Examples of modules which I teach on include:

Research supervision (Masters, PhD/DBA) - currently supervise three DBA candidates. Two of the studies are in entrepreneurship/innovation and one in knowledge exchange.

Experience in industry

My work experience is in diverse sectors, including nine years in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry where I worked for few organisations, including global brands. I also worked for nearly two years in banking and finance. I started my career in higher education in 2013.

I am an external expert advisor/evaluator for Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. As part of this, I involve in the evaluation and quality assurance of entrepreneurship higher and further education courses.

International experience

I have experienced higher education in England, Scotland, Sri Lanka and Germany whilst living and working there. I used my PhD research project as an opportunity to work closely with a world-class network of enterprise and entrepreneurship educators, researchers, practitioners and policy makers from around the world. I also work with a global network of design thinkers.

Additional interests and activities

Knowledge exchange & related activities 

I engage with the industry through university-industry collaborative projects. I am part of the Impact Assessment Group for Innovate for Rail, an ERDF funded project.
