I am studying the evolution of national identity management in sub-Saharan African countries and how the institutions and development of these nation-states have been affected by colonisation, ethnicity, and nationalism. I am evaluating what the effects of the evolution has been on governance, national development, and economic growth, and how policy-makers can moderate these damaging effects when implementing inherited and acquired identity management ecosystems to accommodate their development trajectory.
