About

I am a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Derby teaching on both the Apprenticeship and BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programmes. My clinical background has predominantly specialised in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (outpatients) and elective Orthopaedics both within the NHS and private sector in a variety of different settings. 

Teaching responsibilities

I am currently Module Lead for the following first year modules on the Physiotherapy Apprenticeship programme:

• Physiotherapy Fundamentals
• Developing Professional Skills
• Foundations of Primary and Community Care.

I am also Module Lead for the BSc (Hons) first year module Professional Skills and Practice 1. 

Professional interests

My professional interests involve a longstanding interest and passion within the fitness industry in competitive bodybuilding, nutrition and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I enjoy maintaining a healthy active lifestyle which includes weight training and cardiovascular fitness. 

Research interests

Although I am not currently involved or active in any research at present, my research interests are within musculoskeletal physiotherapy and orthopaedics, with a particular interest in a healthy and active lifestyle and healthy eating. 

Membership of professional bodies

I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health and Professions Council.

I am also nearing completion of my PG Cert in Higher Education (July 2025) working towards my FHEA. 

Qualifications

Postgraduate Qualifications:

• PG Certificate in Higher Education with FHEA (pending completion July 2025)
• Masters in Physiotherapy (Pre-registration)
• Undergraduate Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Science 
• Several other qualifications including Foundation Degree in IT, BTEC National Diploma, Level 2/3 Certificates in Leadership, Nutrition, Acupuncture and Fitness Instructing, GCSE's 

Experience in industry

I began my career as a Lecturer in Higher Education in April 2024 commencing at Birmingham Newman University as a Lecturer in Physiotherapy on the BSc (Hons) programme before moving to the University of Derby in March 2025 as a Lecturer in Physiotherapy.

Prior to moving into academia, I have five years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist both in the NHS and private sectors in a variety of different settings. Furthermore, I am currently maintaining my clinical practice experience and skills as I still work on the bank as a Senior Physiotherapist at Nuffield Health. 

Recent publications

None at present.

However, my BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science Dissertation and Masters in Physiotherapy Service Transformation Project were both recommended for publication.

My future career aspirations involve progressing to a Senior Lecturer (and beyond), topping up the PG Cert in Higher Education to a Masters in Education and also potentially undertaking a PhD in a specific topic of interest.
