I am a Registered Nurse with 30 years of experience; my clinical background is predominantly acute with over ten years in Intensive Care. Over the last 15 years, I have worked in the field of education and practice development, this has included the support and management of the pre-registration nurses practice experience and more recently as the Programme Leader for the FDSc Nursing Associate programme which is delivered by the Trust.  This has provided us with a unique opportunity to develop a programme to support the development of this exciting new role across our local community.

I am passionate about the nursing team and ensuring that we have the right skills in the right place to deliver top quality nursing care. The Nursing Associate role is a new role within nursing and provides the profession with the opportunity to relook at how effective nursing care might be delivered.

Thesis title

The impact of the role of the Nursing Associate on the nursing team within an acute care setting; a phenomenological study of the lived experiences of Nursing Associates, Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants.
