About

I am a Senior Lecturer within the Children's Nursing programme. My role encompasses delivering high-quality teaching and learning, supporting curriculum development, contributing to research activity, and maintaining quality assurance standards across the programme.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am the Simulation Lead for the Children's Nursing team, leading the development and delivery of simulation-based learning experiences that enhance students' clinical skills, critical thinking, and confidence in providing safe, effective care for children and their families.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach across all three stages of the pre-registration Children's Nursing programme, supporting students to develop the knowledge, skills, professional values, and critical thinking required to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses and deliver safe, evidence-based, person-centred care.

My particular areas of interest are Diabetes, Dementia and palliative care. I am also passionate about simulation-based education and clinical skills teaching, using innovative teaching approaches to support students in developing clinical competence, critical thinking, and confidence for clinical practice.

In addition to my teaching role, I am Personal Academic Tutor and Academic Assessor for many Children's Nursing students. I provide academic guidance, pastoral support, and professional development advice throughout their university journey, helping them achieve their potential and progress successfully towards registration as children's nurses.

Professional interests

My career has included a range of roles within the NHS, spanning clinical nursing, practice education, and quality improvement. I have worked across diverse healthcare settings, including acute and elderly medicine, A&E, dementia care, pain management, and palliative care. These experiences continue to shape my teaching, allowing me to bring real-world clinical insight and a broad healthcare perspective to student learning and development.

Research interests

I am particularly interested in simulation-based learning and the use of artificial intelligence to advance healthcare education and pedagogy, with a particular focus on enhancing student engagement and learning experiences, clinical decision-making, and develop students' digital capabilities for an evolving healthcare workforce.

My research interests also extend to dementia care, pain management, and diabetes care, exploring strategies to enhance the quality, safety, and effectiveness of care for children and young people living with long-term conditions.

Additional interests and activities

Outside of my academic role, I run an online business and enjoy the creativity and innovation that entrepreneurship brings. In my free time, I love cooking and experimenting with different cuisines, exploring new flavours and recipes from around the world.
