About

I am a Lecturer for the pre-registration BSc Nursing Programme, based at St Helena's campus, Chesterfield. 

Teaching responsibilities

I am part of the Stage 1 team and support with teaching and assessing across all Stage 1 modules:

I am module lead for Assessing needs and planning care (4NU506) for the Chesterfield based students.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I act as a Personal Tutor and Academic Assessor to students, providing support throughout their nursing journey in preparation for qualifying as Registered Nurses.

Professional interests

I have a professional interest in pre and postoperative surgical care and effective interprofessional working.

I also have a keen interest in supporting student transition to registration.

Qualifications

Experience in industry

I joined the university in 2019, prior to which I worked in a variety of roles within the NHS and Private sectors. I have nursing experience in a wide range of elective and emergency surgical specialties, these include dermatology, podiatry, ophthalmology, ENT, general and colorectal surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, vascular and plastic surgery. Furthermore, I have experience caring for patients suffering with chronic pain and those undergoing surgical intervention within the field of oncology.

Most recently, I worked as a Sister within the Outpatients department, implementing many positive changes, prior to which I managed a busy Day Surgical Unit.

International experience

I have worked as a Registered Nurse in the UK, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Jersey.
