This half day course is delivered by experts with expertise in this field of technology. Learn about the fundamentals of reverse engineering and 3D scanning and understand the basic application of 3D scanning in reverse engineering.  It will help you understand the application of 3D scanning of a simple object and the application of 3D scanning within industry.

Who should attend: You would choose the reverse engineering course if you have a physical part/item but no drawing or CAD and you would like to learn more about how you reproduce the part or how you can modify it by using the part.

Course description

Delivered by experts with application experience in this field of technology, this practical short course offers a greater understanding of 3D scanning and reverse engineering. Reverse engineering provides important insights into the design and architecture of man-made objects in order to extract knowledge from the object. 3D scanning can be a great complementary tool as it can analyse the real-world object or environment, collect data on its shape and possibly its appearance, and the collected data can then be used to construct digital 3D models.

Reverse engineering and 3D printing/scanning are one of the research expertise areas here at the Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering (IISE). Some of the most advanced reverse engineering and 3D scanning equipment available commercially and relevant methods will be demonstrated. The application of skills learnt on this course opens up opportunities for potential third stream income generation.
