Course description

Whether it is installing a new machine, developing a new product, implementing a new strategy, or planning a marketing campaign it is important to understand the critical processes involved and develop a concise plan that everyone can understand.

Project Management for Business is an introduction to project management.  It will give you an overview of project management tools and techniques, helping you to develop the skills you need to effectively deliver projects in your business.  It will take you through the following:

  1. Gain an understanding of the organisational theory that underpins current project management practices. 
  2. Appreciate the purpose & appropriateness of PRINCE2 for organisational projects.
  3. Recognise competencies in an established project management methodology.
  4. Construct project memoranda demonstrating knowledge and application of the concepts and practice project management.
  5. Gain an overview of project software using Microsoft Project.

Learning outcomes

Developing a simple project plan, including areas:

Identifying Project Sponsor & Stakeholders (who will own the project and who is its customer)

Setting Project Objectives & Parameters (what it will and won’t deliver)

Planning Key Milestones & Resources (when it will achieve each step and using what resource)

Keeping the Project on Track (What if deadlines slip?)
