Course description

The course is not designed to teach you how to be accountants, instead it gives you an understanding of what an accountant does so that you can confidently participate in finance discussions within your organisation and interpret financial information.

The course covers financial accounting and financial statements with an option to learn analysis of these; limited company accounting; management accounting including costing and budgeting; financial management includes investment appraisal, sources of finance and management of working capital.

Learning outcomes

Units 1 and 2 to provide the foundation for your learning. Once these are complete, you will be able to create a course that suits your personal interests, by selecting from units 3 to 10. Each unit embeds learning activities for you to complete and will take 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.

Unit 3: Accounting for Limited Companies

Unit 4: Analysis & Interpretation of Accounts part 1

Unit 5: Analysis & Interpretation of Accounts part 2

Unit 6: Management Accounting: Costing

Unit 7: Budgeting

Unit 8: Making Capital Investment Decisions

Unit 9: Financing a Business

Unit 10: Management of Working Capital

Entry requirements

Although those within management roles may find this course particularly useful, the content is suitable for all levels of employee.
