Your academic and digital practice

How we support you

DELTA is our institutional approach to staff development run by the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. Our DELTA approach ranges from delivering workshops and showcase events across the University, offering bespoke College sessions, to supporting our staff as they develop their professional method and practice.

DELTA Workshops are a great opportunity to learn about creative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment and find out more about new systems and tools. They are delivered using best practice and typically aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF). DELTA sessions are available to all University staff across all our campuses.

Staff can find out more about forthcoming sessions and book their place here.

DELTA: Digital sessions support our blended applied learning approach and our Educational Model for 2020/21. Designed to complement our Off-Campus Digital Learning Course, they provide introductions to a range of technologies to support teaching as well as sessions with an increased focus on more advanced pedagogic and digital practice.

DELTA: Platform events showcase speakers from a range of backgrounds and disciplines to share current thinking and practice within Further and Higher Education. These sessions share best practices as well as innovative and creative approaches to inspire academic staff.

DELTA: Partner provides collaborative support in learning, teaching and assessment to our Colleges and partners. The core activities will focus on University Strategies and College priorities, arranged with College management teams.

DELTA: Pathfinder provides the opportunity for colleagues to gain professional recognition for their skills in teaching and supporting learning by gaining Associate Fellowship, Fellowship or Senior Fellowship of Advance HE. This structured scheme offers a range of support sessions and activities for colleagues working on their applications.

DELTA: Prism is a programme of support to enable staff to engage in effective and impactful research into a wide range of learning, teaching and assessment practices across the University.  It helps staff interested in, or already undertaking pedagogic research develop skills in pedagogy and undertake and publish pedagogic work aligned to the Pedagogic Research Group.

DELTA: Peer is a personal development tool for all staff, focused around a model of observing others and reflection.  It encourages staff to view the practice of other academic areas and professional services and learn from each other.
