Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching - Launch Event

If you managed to come along to The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) launch you will have been whisked into our imaginary Oscars set with a live compere, awards, interviews, a competition and role play.

The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching is focused on teaching excellence and educational innovation. The Centre is part of the Academic and Student Experience Portfolio under the direction of Professor Malcolm Todd, Provost (Academic). Although CELT was first announced in the summer of last year, we have been busy working over the past year establishing our structure, activity and presence.

As the Head of the Centre, I am fortunate to work with an inspiring team of people who are passionate about our students’ learning experience and who work collaboratively with staff to ensure excellence is at the heart of everything we do. CELT comprises the University’s Learning and Teaching Team, headed up by Dr Tamsin Bowers-Brown (Learning, Teaching and Student Experience Lead) and the Technology Enhanced Learning Team headed up by John Hill (Technology Enhanced Learning Manager). The teams are aligned to Colleges to support learning as well as engaging in and leading institutional activities.

At the launch we expressed our ambition and desire to enhance innovation, excellence and active learning. We adopted a novel approach and reached out to colleagues to collaborate on projects with us, to share ideas for our Ideas Factory and to be part of our community as we explore the exciting and different ways to enhance pedagogic practice and engage students in their learning journey.

We look forward to working with you in the coming year.

Fiona Shelton (Head of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching)
