Tell us about the course you're studying and how it fits with your career aspirations?

Sport has always been a passion of mine growing up. My dream would be to play cricket whilst working in the sports industry, and that goal is becoming clearer because of this course. This degree has made me realise that there is so much more to consider than just the game on the field, and there are many areas I can choose to major in.

What were your main reasons for choosing this course?

The main reason I chose this course was because of the work placement opportunities (Derby County Football Club, Derby County Cricket Club, Sporting Futures etc.) and how complex the degree programme was.

Why did you choose to study the course at Derby?

I come from a small and quiet Caribbean Island (Anguilla). I felt Derby would be a great place to complete my degree because it was an up and coming city that is developing and growing, while not being overcrowded and busy.

How do your lecturers inspire you?

Each lecturer has their own unique background, which makes them so special. One lecturer is a development 'guru', he breaks everything down and pays attention to detail, whilst another is very knowledgeable and anything you ask him, he has the answer! Their passion for sports and their attitude towards the degree, and the relationships they build with the students is very special.

Tell us about your modules; what makes them interesting and which are your favourite?

For the past two years I've really enjoyed all my modules because they are so unique. My favourite modules are Principles of International Sports Business, Sports Business Development and Entrepreneurship and Sports Project Operation Management.

What would you say to anyone thinking of coming to study this course at the University of Derby?

This course gives you an early start into the sports industry with its work placements and modules. It is very enjoyable and the relationships you create with students, lecturers, entrepreneurs and successful businessmen will be with you forever.
