Dominic Petronzi had two papers accepted from his PhD, with supervisors David Sheffield, Paul Staples and Tom Hunt.
Tom has had a paper accepted.
Fiona and Simon Bignell are guiding Jodie, a new PhD student, towards applying for a project related to the Sport England project – about Neets and sports and employability.
Fiona has been invited to give a body image workshop in North Carolina, USA, in August. Part of this session will be open to the public, and it is more evidence of the impact of Fiona’s research.
James and Jane reported there are plans to develop an MRes Psychology course for start in September 2017. This might involve a block study format like the MSc Behaviour Change, and might also involve a very accessible (even free?) PG Cert of PG Dip stage.
Catherine Govender, a PhD student at the University of South Africa supervised by James Elander as an external supervisor, submitted her thesis before Xmas and has a very positive outcome, with some minor amendment to make.
Fiona Holland acted recently as an external examiner and wondered what support there might be for relatively new external PhD examiners. Perhaps we could make this the focus for a future meeting, or see if there is any university staff development on this?
James reported that the bid for a contract to evaluate Rugby League Cares’ wellbeing programme was not successful.
Carol reported the dialysis project is getting set up; Carol has enrolled now as a PhD student, the team have met Nick Selby and Maartin Taal, the medics at the Royal Derby Hospital, and Carol is leading the development of a plan for the 3-year programme of research on patients’ experiences of dialysis.
