We have around 300 research-active staff at Derby and 400 doctoral students. They are investigating subjects as diverse as cybercrime, Long Covid, mental health, biomedical science, greener forms of transport, and asylum seekers' experiences. Learn more about our people and their research.

Dr Chrispas Nyombi joined the University of Derby in October 2021. Prior to this, he worked at Canterbury Christchurch University (Reader in International Commercial law) and the University of Bedfordshire (Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Law).

Academic Lead for Environmental Management, Dr Uchechukwu Okere, has previously worked with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) to deliver professional training courses to environmental professionals in various sectors including oil and gas, maritime and finance in the both the UK and abroad.

Professor Kamil Omoteso is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences, comprising Derby Business School, School of Law and Social Sciences and Centre for Contemporary Hospitality and Tourism. He is passionate about student experience, graduate employability and innovation, and keen to build a sustainable research culture and enhance business engagement.

Dr Oriola is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Derby Law School; Programme Leader for LLM Degree Pathways; and Programme Leader for LLM Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law.

As a Senior Lecturer in Physiology, Callum Osler is involved in teaching, student supervision and research within the Sport and Exercise Science discipline area. His research has primarily focused on understanding the control of human balance.

Lecturer in Forensic Psychology

As a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology, Dr Tom Page teaches on the BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology programme. He also supports students as a Personal Academic Tutor and supervisor for undergraduate and MSc postgraduate dissertation projects. Tom also conducts research in Forensic Psychology and has published articles in a range of high quality academic journals.

Senior Lecturer in Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation

Dr Jack Parker is currently a Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at the University of Derby. His research focuses on rehabilitation and in particular, neuro-disabilities, musculoskeletal conditions, long-term conditions and innovative models of service delivery.

Fred coordinates the Sustainable Business and Clean Growth Research Cluster, leads the Low Carbon Business Network and DE-Carbonise Business project for pro-environmental SMEs. Fred is a Module Leader on the MSc in Sustainable and Ethical Business Management and an active researcher into leadership for sustainability. He also supervises PhD, DBA and MBA dissertation students.
