Time2Innovate - Working with IISE - University of Derby

Supporting you to research and innovate in your business

We believe that companies who innovate with sustainability in mind will succeed

In partnership with D2N2, the Institute (IISE) is offering SME's in the Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire area funding to access the very latest technologies and expertise to drive innovation in engineering and advanced manufacturing.

The Time2Innovate programme offers:

  • Innovation Vouchers of up to £1,500 each
  • Innovation Credit of up to £5,000 per company
  • Collaboration for Innovation – to develop larger projects and support to access funding

The three levels of support are:

Innovation Voucher

Scope out new ideas and possibilities for your business in a risk-free environment using the latest resources, technologies and expertise at the Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering. Innovation vouchers of up to £1,500 are available.

How does it work?

IISE staff will spend half aday visiting you at your premises to discuss and develop yourTime2Innovate proposal. If accepted, you name a ‘change agent’ with the drive to innovate. He or she will spend a day at the Institute exploring the idea through accessing relevant equipment and expertise, for example, this could be rapid prototyping.

Innovation Credit

If you want to take your idea further an Innovation Credit will allow increased technical support to be offered. For example, design and stress analysis or additive layer manufacturing. IISE staff will support you to produce an internal report on the business benefits of the proposed innovation. Innovation Credits of up to £5,000 are available.

How does it work?

The Innovation Credit covers the impact of developing and feasibility testing an idea, helping you to undertake an initial exploration of a project at minimal risk to your business.

Collaboration for Innovation

Should you wish to take your proposed innovation further, the two hurdles which companies often find the greatest barrier are finance and time. By collaborating with IISE and the University of Derby we will work with you to address these challenges; enabling you to continue to innovate.

How does it work?

Staff at IISE will spend time with you to develop the project proposal or business case for the project to receive the necessary company approvals. They will support you to apply for funding which could enable the expansion of the project into a full scale research and development or innovation project.
