Careers work with adults

Career guidance helps adults to make informed and considered career choices. 

There is extensive research that documents the importance of support for adults in making informed choices for their learning, work and wider lives (Niace, 2011; BIS 2013). Across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, all-age careers services provide support for adults. In England, the National Careers Service provides a face-to-face and digital service to support adults to access learning and work.

Based on experience backed by international evidence iCeGS is committed to supporting the development of a strong national all-age universal careers service serving adults and young people throughout their lives. We have a strong record of accomplishment in supporting policy for adult guidance services having conducted the national Cross-government Review of Information, Advice & Guidance Services for Adults under the previous government. The Centre works in partnership with SQW to support the National Careers Service through identifying and sharing best practice. Recent national and international experience includes the following:
