Our sustainable business researchers

Fred coordinates the Sustainable Business and Clean Growth Research Cluster, leads the Low Carbon Business Network and DE-Carbonise Business project for pro-environmental SMEs. Fred is a Module Leader on the MSc in Sustainable and Ethical Business Management and an active researcher into leadership for sustainability. He also supervises PhD, DBA and MBA dissertation students.

Polina Baranova is a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management. Her research lies at the intersection of strategy, business and society. In particular, she specialises in the development of the environmental capabilities in various organisational settings through stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management.

Dr Jay Daniel is a Programme Leader at Derby Business School. Before joining the University of Derby, Jay was a Lecturer in Supply Chain and Information Systems at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, and has previously held positions of Senior Management Consultant, Supply Chain Solution Analyst, Project Manager, Industry Trainer and Lead Auditor.

As a Researcher in Researcher in Digital Innovation for Productivity and Sustainability, Dr Bruno Gallotta leads and delivers research and business research activities around engineering for sustainability and net zero to SMEs in the city of Derby.  

Orla is a Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Strategy, who works in the Executive Education and Enterprise Development Department of the University's College of Business, Law and Social Sciences.

Simon is a Lecturer at the University of Derby. He has earned his PhD from the University of Derby, UK; an Executive MBA from Preston University; and an MBA from American University of Central Asia and is now pursing his PhD with focus on Circular Economy. As a growing researcher, he has published in scientific journals, international conferences and a book chapter.
