Senior Lecturer in Law

Dr Eghosa Ekhator is a Senior Lecturer in Law. He joined the University of Derby in September 2019 from the University of Chester, where he taught on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His primary areas of research are International Environmental Law (especially Environmental Justice issues in developing countries and the African Union) and Natural Resources Governance.

Professor of Health Psychology

James Elander is a HCPC-registered (Health Care Professions Council) health psychologist who conducts research on psychological and behavioural aspects of chronic illness, including pain coping and pain management, and how people use analgesics (painkillers). He also has a longstanding interest in the psychology of learning and teaching, especially student writing.

Associate Professor in Microbiology

Dr. David Elliott is a microbial ecologist specialising in the roles of microbes in low productivity soils including drylands and the cryosphere. He leads the BSc (hons) Biology programme and teaches a variety of topics in Human and Environmental Sciences.

Dr Holly Elliott is an Economic Geologist at the University of Derby. Recently, she has been involved in research relating to the formation of rare earth element deposits associated with carbonatite magmatic systems.

Bill Esmond is Associate Professor, Education & Employment. His research is located at the intersection of workplace learning, vocational and higher education. His analysis of systems and practice is widely published in international journals, and he supports the research aspirations of vocational practitioners, from local projects to doctoral study.

As a Research Professor in Criminology, Stephen devotes most of his time to his own research interests (which include studying the impact of Thatcherism on crime and the criminal justice system, why people stop offending and the fear of crime), and helping colleagues develop their own research plans and careers.

Cath is a lecturer in modern British and European history and heritage, with research interests in nineteenth- and twentieth-century British cultural, social and intellectual history.

Lecturer in Psychology

Lecturer in Psychology, Dr Dean Fido, joined the University of Derby Online Learning in January 2018 as a Lecturer in Psychology. After completing his PhD at Nottingham Trent University, he completed post-doctoral research at the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (University of Oxford).
