Senior Research Fellow

Baris was trained and educated in Turkey, Netherlands, Italy, UK and the USA. He oversees our Master of Research Programme in Social Sciences and Humanities. He is an interdisciplinary scholar and is broadly interested in questioning the everyday life and exploring how the codes of ideal justice and socio-cultural harmony promote peace and better life opportunities in plural societies.

Dr. Chamberlain is an igneous petrologist and field volcanologist specialising in the use of in situ microanalytical techniques to yield insights into magmatic processes and their associated timings at a variety of volcanic scales, from the giant-sized Bishop Tuff eruption to small-scale eruptions on Ascension Island, South Atlantic.

Associate Professor of Creative Writing

Matthew Cheeseman is a writer. He works across fiction and non-fiction, drawing on critical theory and cultural studies, often collaborating with others to create books and pamphlets. He is Associate Professor of Creative Writing and Programme Leader for MA Creative Writing. A folklorist, he researches neoliberalism in post-war popular culture.

Senior Lecturer in Law

As a Senior Lecturer in Law, Lisa Cherkassky teaches criminal law and medical law to law undergraduates, and has published widely in both fields, on topics such as causation, HIV transmission, genocide, saviour siblings, liver transplants, abortion law, and the welfare of the child.

Lecturer in Sport Outdoor and Exercise Science

As a lecturer and level 6 lead in Sport Outdoor and Exercise Science, Dr Chidley leads modules on environmental exercise physiology and research methods. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a PhD in exercise psychophysiology.

Dr. Childs is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology with expertise in qualitative research methods. Her primary research interests are language and social interaction in a range of settings using Conversation Analysis and Discursive Psychology.

Rizwan Choudhry in the Fatigue Lab
Senior Lecturer in Materials/Mechanical Engineering

Rizwan Choudhry is a mechanical engineer with a decade of academic teaching and research experience. Rizwan's specialization is in composite material mechanics and research experience includes FE based continuum damage modelling, cohesive zone modelling, NDT using X-ray CT, ultrasonic C-Scan and mechanical property testing.

Visiting Professor to University of Derby Online Learning, Professor Donald Clark, is an EdTech entrepreneur. He was CEO and one of the founders of Epic Group plc, which established itself as the leading company in the UK online learning market, floated on the Stock Market in 1996 and sold in 2005. As well as being the CEO of Wildfire Ltd. he also invests in, and advises EdTech companies.

Lecturer in Psychology

Dr. Clarke's area of expertise is in performance under pressure and the psychological predictors and mechanisms that are associated, specifically for 'choking' and 'the yips' within sport.
