Senior Lecturer in Criminology

Dr David Patton is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and has been lecturing since 1998. He is also Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Criminology and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. 

Professor of Policing

Ken is a chartered forensic psychologist with extensive research and practical experience. His quantitative research group at Manchester University was a field leader. He reviews for most leading journals in criminology and sits on the editorial boards of three.

Lecturer in English Language

Dr Cara Penry Williams a Lecturer in English Language. As well as teaching undergraduate students, Cara researches topics in sociolinguistics and discourse analysis. I am available for PhD supervision on topics related to my expertise.

Lecturer in Geoscience

As a lecturer in Geosciences, I teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the School of Environmental Sciences. I also undertake research across the fields of Geology, Geophysics and Geodynamics, with a particular focus on Plate Tectonic theory.

Simon is Programme Leader for BA Liberal Arts; and Subject Leader for American Studies and Popular Music in Society.

Maria is a Research Development Fellow based in the Research and Knowledge Exchange Office.

Richard is a Lecturer in Geography at the University of Derby.

Val is a Senior Lecturer in Education having previously been a secondary school science teacher, Head of Department and Senior Leader in schools.

Associate Professor in Physical Activity and Health

Andy is an Associate Professor of Physical Activity and Health. He undertakes teaching, research and PhD supervision in the area of impact and implementation of physical activity interventions for health improvement. Andy is Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and a NICE Guidelines Implementation Expert. He was involved in the 2019 Chief Medical Officers' PA Guidelines. 

Dr Deb Raha
Lecturer in Human and Developmental Geography

Dr Debadayita (Deb) Raha is a lecturer in Human and Developmental Geography at the University of Derby. Her research interests lie in the multidisciplinary field of social science and environmental impact on people's lives. She has previously worked at the University of Nottingham looking at whole systems analysis of small scale renewable energy for rural communities in UK and India.
