Placement
Study full time and you have the option to include an integrated work placement of up to 12 months as part of your international hospitality management Masters qualification. By choosing this option you will study your Independent Scholarship module 'on-the-job', allowing you to research real-world issues faced by your company.
If you are not currently employed, we can support you to find a suitable placement. Placements often lead to permanent employment opportunities.
Study while you earn
Our teaching and learning strategy allow you to study while you remain in employment. You'll complete 'blended learning modules' where most of your learning is undertaken online with the support of module tutors.

Please note that our modules are subject to change - we review the content of our courses regularly, making changes where necessary to improve your experience and graduate prospects.
The teaching and learning methods used are diverse and may include lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, practical fieldwork exercises and online learning materials. Assessments include briefing reports, pitches, presentations, essays, unseen examinations, and case studies.
Applicants will normally be in possession of:
- A UK 2.2 (or above) Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised British or overseas Institutions. All subjects are considered, but possession of degrees or relevant experience in related subjects will be advantageous
Or
- A significant portfolio of work at an appropriate level or relevant professional qualifications.
Students applying for the MSc International Hospitality Management course with integrated work placement will need to attend an interview with a prospective industry organisation.
English language requirements
- If English is not your first language, you will also need IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in each skills area.

Teaching hours
Like most universities, we operate extended teaching hours at the University of Derby, so contact time with your lecturers and tutors could be anytime between 9am and 9pm. Your timetable will usually be available on the website 24 hours after enrolment on to your course.
