Welcome from the Head of UK Partnerships

A warm welcome to colleagues and friends from both our current and prospective new partners.

The University is committed to be an institution which is regionally rooted and community engaged. Partnerships are an important dimension to the work of the University. This also aligns with social mobility and the recognition that some of our students want to study in their local Colleges near their home and work enabling them to fit study around their existing work and family commitments.

The UK Partnership Strategy aims to consolidate existing established local Further Education College partnerships to ‘cultivate our future generations’ capacity to bring value and impact to the region’ and to grow their HE in FE portfolio. The geographical clustering of partnerships will consolidate the knowledge, experience and understanding of local and regional market needs. The ability to deliver a Skills Escalator at regional and national level will be a critical success factor demonstrating the impact and influence of the University and its partners. UK partnerships are a means by which the University of Derby will deliver graduates to local communities within the region and beyond.

The Head of UK Academic Partnerships chairs the UK Partnerships Forum which meets twice per academic year to share good practice, debate current issues and further develop links between partners encouraging the notion of a neural network.
