Derby Institute of Hunan University of Technology (DIHUT) is the newly approved Joint Education Institute co-developed and co-managed by the University of Derby and Hunan University of Technology.

Hunan University of Technology is one of the leading universities in Hunan Province in South Central China. It is a modern and application-focused university with strong links to regional electrical and electronical engineering industries, and a current student population of more than 35,000.

Derby Institute of Hunan University of Technology (DIHUT) is located on the Hunan University of Technology campus in Zhuzhou, the second-largest city of Hunan Province. Zhuzhou is renowned for its role in the development and production of high-speed rail and green energy public transportation. It is a dynamic, outward-looking city, known for its openness and inclusivity.

Students at Derby Institute of Hunan University of Technology (DIHUT) will enroll on one of three dual awards over 4 years of study:

• BSc (Hons) Information Technology (UoD)
  BEng Software Engineering (HUT)
  
  
• BEng (Hons) Electrical & Electronic Engineering (UoD)
  BEng Electrical Engineering & Automation (HUT)
  
  
• BSc (Hons) Engineering (Electrical & Electronic) (UoD)
  BEng Electronic Science & Technology (HUT)

Students at Derby Institute of Hunan University of Technology (DIHUT) will receive an international learning experience, benefitting from specially designed curricula that combine the University of Derby’s TEF Gold rated teaching methodology and quality, and Hunan University of Technology’s academic standards, strong links to local enterprise, and research facilities.

The University of Derby’s side of the awards will be fully taught in English and delivered in-country by University of Derby academics.

Upon completion of the programmes, graduates will be awarded an internationally recognised degree from both the University of Derby and Hunan University of Technology, opening doors to future careers in industry and innovation and postgraduate study around the world.

The University of Derby’s Joint Education Institute in Zhuzhou, Hunan, China will enroll its first students in September 2026.
