Your guide to Open Days

Spend the day exploring our campus, joining subject sessions and getting answers about your course and next steps.

1) Your day at a glance

Head to our Buxton campus first (SK17 6RY) any time from 10:00am for free parking. Look out for our staff and students in pink hoodies who will guide you when you arrive.

• Welcome talk (20 mins) - hear from a senior leader about life at Buxton and next steps. Talks run in the morning and afternoon, so no rush if you arrive later.
• Subject sessions - meet lecturers and students, ask questions and get a feel for your course. 
• Explore at your pace - tour the campus, visit support teams, check out societies or join another subject session if you’re undecided.
• Personal statement advice - join our talk and drop-in for helpful guidance and feedback directly from our experts.
• Provisional offer - if your grades meet entry requirements, you could leave with a provisional offer on the day.

2) Plan your route

Your Open Day begins at our Buxton campus (SK17 6RY), with free parking for visitors. Electric vehicle charging points are also available on site.

• Bus - the University of Derby – Buxton provide several term time bus routes to enable you to access campus
• Train - Buxton station is only five minutes walk from the Devonshire Campus. Buxton has direct trains from Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly, via Stockport. The journey takes about an hour.
• Cycling and Motorcycling - The Devonshire Campus has facilities for cyclists and motorcyclists to store their bikes free of charge in the sheltered bays which are located behind the old gatehouse for cyclists and within the main car park for motorcyclists.

3) Student life and support

• Get advice on applications, finance and wellbeing from Student Services.

• Receive high-quality, impartial careers information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) programme. Delivered by skilled and experienced professionals, our service meets the National Matrix Quality Standard and complies with the Gatsby Benchmarks for CEIAG in schools and colleges

• Drop into the Social Space (The Boiler House) or library to see where you could spend your downtime.

4) Finish your visit and explore Buxton

If you’re choosing between subjects, you can join another session in the afternoon, then round off your day with a wander into the centre of historic Buxton, or treat yourself to a meal at Harpurs Bistro, which is set within the iconic Devonshire Dome in Buxton and is operated by our talented Hospitality and Catering students.
