"The beautiful Silk Mill provides a great backdrop for entrepreneurs and students to mix, talk and exchange stories.” - Bev Crighton, Employer Engagement Lead at the University of Derby

The city’s next generation of entrepreneurs will have the chance to hear from business leaders at the University of Derby’s fourth annual Network of Entrepreneurs event on Wednesday 15 November at the Silk Mill in Derby.

Melanie Grace, Founder of Corporate Angels and The Winning Circle, and Mo Suleman, Director of Resources at Derby Museums and Board Director for Cathedral Quarter BID, will be on hand at the event to share their knowledge and experiences with University of Derby students, and anyone attending with an entrepreneurial spirit or who is starting up a new business.

The event, hosted by the University’s College of Business, Law and Social Sciences, and sponsored by Flint Bishop LLP, is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world's largest festival of entrepreneurship, which celebrates entrepreneurs and helps them get the support they need.

The event will provide an opportunity for University students, local professionals and academics to engage and network with one another.

Melanie started Corporate Angel Promotions Ltd, a VIP Hostess and Events Agency, which has assisted major events from the Monaco Yacht Show and Ronaldinho and Ryan Giggs’ international sporting events in Pakistan, to DAMAC property events and many more. She also founded The Winning Circle, a network for entrepreneurs to feel supported and empowered.

Mo Suleman recently won the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards. Since joining Derby Museum, he has catapulted the former council department, to an independent, commercially-minded charity. The museum quadrupled its commercial income in his first full financial year at the helm, and he has been instrumental in the museum securing £9.5m from the Heritage Lottery Fund and a further £2.5m from the Arts Council England.

Bev Crighton, Employer Engagement Lead at the University, said: “We are really looking forward to our Network of Entrepreneurs event during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Melanie Grace and Mo Suleman have inspirational tales to tell, and the beautiful Silk Mill provides a great backdrop for entrepreneurs and students to mix, talk and exchange stories.”

Andrew Cochrane, Senior Partner at Flint Bishop Solicitors comments: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Network of Entrepreneurs event with Derby University for the fourth year running. Over the years, this event has helped students, local professionals and academies to engage with one another all while enjoying the company of our fantastic guest speakers who possess a unique entrepreneurial experience.”

Our event aims to bring the Global Enterprise Week to Derby.
