About the lecture:

Generation IV Nuclear Energy Systems and Small Modular Reactors - A Status Report
by John Robertson, Director of Education and Nuclear Skills, Gen2.

This is a Nuclear Institute (Midlands Branch) event.

Generation IV nuclear energy systems could offer significant improvements in safety, reliability, sustainability, waste minimisation and proliferation resistance. Several concepts are at an advanced stage of design and some prototypes have been developed and tested. At the same time, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are generating increasing interest both in the UK and overseas as they may offer significant reductions in the capital cost of a nuclear plant, shorter construction periods and greater flexibility in meeting demand. This presentation will provide an overview of Generation IV and SMR technologies, a status report on their development and consider the outlook for regulatory approval and deployment.

This event is free and no booking is required - just turn up!
