About this talk:

As featured on TV, Professor Mark Birch-Machin from the Institute of Cellular Medicine asks what harm sunlight does to our bodies.

We might think we know about skin damage, but Professor Birch-Machin explains how ultra violet light can also harm DNA in mitochondria, the battery packs of our cells. With reference to his research on ‘tanned whales’, he will introduce a ground breaking sunburn DNA test that can tell us what we did to our skin last summer!
