Buxton’s a great place – but how did it become great? And how can we make it better?

Buxton’s a great place – but how did it become great? And how can we make it better?

Artist, architect and lecturer John Bishop has worked across the globe on projects to help understand how to make a space a great place. He has worked with the famous Reggio Children group in Italy, set up in the aftermath of World War Two to help children left fatherless to understand the world they live in.

John will demonstrate how by seeing through the eyes of children we can gain a new understanding of the world around us and use our built and natural environment to improve health and wellbeing and develop a sense of our belonging to a place.

John will also explore the application of lessons learned in the built environment of nearby Leek and his hometown of Buxton.
