About the event:

The University of Derby hosts a special evening with one of its honorary graduates, Jasvinder Sanghera CBE.

In 1993 Jasvinder founded Karma Nirvana, a charity that raises awareness around honour-based violence and forced marriages, and offers support to victims.

The event will begin with a screening of a documentary entitled ‘Forced Marriage Cops’, which follows the Greater Manchester Police as they try to protect victims of forced marriages. Karma Nirvana was heavily involved with this project.

The screening will then be followed by a panel discussion, with Jasvinder Sanghera, Anna Hall (the director of Forced Marriage Cops) and a victim of forced marriage who appeared in the documentary.
