About the Festival

The third Derby Book Festival will be held from 9 - 17 June 2017 in venues across the city with a programme packed with book related activities and events for all ages and interests.

The Festival will celebrate the joy of books and reading: from author talks, discussions, live performances and a Day of Writing with workshops for budding writers, to a children’s book trail, storytelling, theatre performances and activity sessions.  The Festival combines an array of award winning, international authors with an abundance of local writing talent.  There will be events featuring many different genres including themes associated with Derby, such as engineering, Royal Crown Derby, Joseph Wright of Derby, cricket, climbing and birding.  There’s something for everyone!

This year’s Festival coincides with the arrival of the Tower of London Poppies at the Silk Mill and the Opening Event will feature Birdsong author, Sebastian Faulks at Derby Cathedral.  Tickets are on sale from 14 January 2017.

The Festival’s aim is ‘A book festival which brings Derby’s residents together in a love of books and also inspires new readers to appreciate the pleasure and power of reading.’ Derby Book Festival is a registered charity.

The Festival programme will be available on 11 April 2017 when tickets will be available for all events.  For further information visit the Festival website:
