As part of our ongoing work in support of the Athena SWAN Charter, we a delighted that Professor Aradhana Mehra (Head of Research Centre, Head of Conservation, Biology and Ecosystems, College of Life and Natural Sciences, University of Derby), will host an information evening to inspire girls (age 14+) about interesting, rewarding and exciting careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.

Families, careers teachers, teachers, mentors and anyone interested in careers in STEM areas are most welcome.

This motivational event will showcase an engaging group of six successful locally based women, who will enlighten and entertain us with short, snappy ‘best bits’ presentations about their varied career journeys, and work life balance.

Charlotte Tolley - Current undergraduate student, College of Engineering, University of Derby
Suzanne Smith - Managing Director, Soteria Asbestos Ltd
Julie Speakman - Medical Physicist working in the Nuclear Medicine department at the Royal Derby Hospital
Lizzie Pincome - Materials Engineer, Rolls Royce
Heidi Sowter - Reader in Oncology, College of Life and Natural Sciences, University of Derby
Josie Morrissey - Environmental Manager, Cement Industry

The presentations will be followed by coffee and an opportunity to put questions to the speakers, and gain advice from them.
