About the talk:

This talk will describe work undertaken in the current DSTL MoD research programme ASUR, Autonomous Systems Underpinning Research and give examples of bio-inspired approaches in ASUR and elsewhere. A look back at work done in the early 90s on driver-less cars has some surprises.

About the speaker:

Following post-doctoral work on the theoretical and experimental aspects of the quantum mechanical behaviour of maser and lasers, Bill Bardo worked at the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment, Malvern, for 9 years. He later joined GEC where he spent 19 years as the Technical Director of the GEC-Marconi group of companies.

Bill is a strong advocate of the discipline of systems engineering and currently serves as the Technical Director of Defence Technology College in Systems Engineering and Integrated Systems for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles.
