Fitness, wellbeing and social sport

There is a wide choice of gym, fitness, sport and wellbeing activities on campus, so you're sure to find something that you can enjoy.

Health and fitness at Derby

Our health, wellbeing and sports activities are available to all University of Derby students and staff members throughout the year and provide a range of opportunities to be active in a friendly, social environment.

Our fantastic Sports Centre at the Derby campus provides a wide range of gym, fitness and sports activities. If you join the Sports Centre, your membership includes use of the gym, our class/activity timetable, courts and pitches, but non-members are also welcome and can access a range of facilities and classes on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The Sports Centre offers a choice of over 30 fitness and social sport sessions each week. The classes and activities are suitable for all abilities and levels of fitness. You can download a pdf of our class/activity timetable.

Our long-standing social six-a-side football league runs during term time between October and April. You can register your team for the 2019-20 leagues from September.

If you want to start running, and need a little encouragement, our supported Couch to 5k programmes aim to help individuals start – and progress – their running journeys to achieve a 5k distance.
