Fitness, wellbeing and social sport

There is a wide choice of gym, fitness, sport and wellbeing activities on campus, so you're sure to find something that you can enjoy.

Health and fitness at Derby

Our health, wellbeing and sports activities are available to all University of Derby students and staff members throughout the year and provide a range of opportunities to be active in a friendly, social environment.

Our fantastic Sports Centre at the Derby campus provides a wide range of gym, fitness and sports activities. If you join the Sports Centre, your membership includes use of the gym, our class/activity timetable, courts and pitches, but non-members are also welcome and can access a range of facilities and classes on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The Sports Centre offers a great choice of fitness classes and social sport activities each week. All our classes and social sport activities are suitable for all abilities and levels of fitness.

If football is your passion, our long-standing six-a-side football league runs during term time between October and April. And starting this autumn is our new social netball programme. You can register a team for this year's leagues at the start of each term, normally September or January.

As part of the annual student and staff membership you also have access to over 90 other university gyms around the country at no extra cost through the BUCS UNIversal scheme, a British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) initiative to help you stay active all year round.

Fitness Classes and Activities

All activities listed are FREE to members, but if you don't have a membership you can still take part on a pay-as-you-go basis.
