The College of Health, Psychology and Social Care is seeking to fill a vacant post for a Technician in Clinical Skills and Simulation. 

The role is to provide technical support for medical simulation activity as well as filming and editing of sessions to support E-Learning.

The successful candidate will have experience in a technical support or clinical role either in a University or Medical Environment along with a high level of IT literacy. The role requires a degree or evidence of continuous professional development in a medical/clinical area and/or a nursing/medical qualification. Desirable experience includes; practical knowledge of medical equipment and experience of using video recording and editing systems. 

The post is to support two of the University campuses in both Derby and Chesterfield on a rostered basis.

Principal accountabilities

  1. Liaise with academic staff in the area to provide technical support for College of Health and Social Care courses. Including all the Pre and post qualifying healthcare (nursing) courses, Mental Health nursing, Radiography and Occupational therapy
  2. Liaise with the Technical Team Leader to ensure the correct programming of work to make certain all practical requests are fully met
  3. Provide technical support for medical simulation activity as well as filming and editing of sessions to support E-learning
  4. Maintain the efficient operation and orderly appearance of the clinical simulation environments, facilities and equipment
  5. Help to maintain material stocks, spares etc. and report deficiencies to the Technical Team Leader
  6. Construct and/or install new apparatus and equipment, maintain existing equipment as appropriate
  7. Provide relevant technical assistance for student projects where required
  8. Demonstrate in relevant simulations as required (Where technician time permits)
  9. Assist with supervision and training of trainee technicians where required
  10. Provide technical assistance to other areas of the College as directed by the Technical Team Leader
  11. Undertake appropriate technician development programmes
  12. Ensure local compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and polices
