Financial support and bursaries

A bursary is financial support designed to help eligible students with the cost of attending the University of Derby – Buxton.

This may include support for:

• Travel (e.g. bus passes)
• Meals on campus
• Course-related costs (e.g. equipment, uniforms, books, field trips)
• Childcare for dependents (must be OFSTED registered)
• Exam fees and professional memberships (where applicable)

To be eligible for a bursary, you must meet a certain criteria, including but not limited to:

• Be enrolled on a full-time or part-time DfE-funded programme (excludes apprenticeships) at University of Derby – Buxton
• Meet our household income threshold (currently set at £45,000 net per year or less)
• Meet residency and age criteria set out in the national funding rules
• Demonstrate that you have course-related costs
• Adhere to the University of Derby – Buxton's behaviour and attendance standards

How to apply for a Bursary

1. Visit the portal: Log in to the Pay My Student portal at blc.paymystudent.com to start your application.
2. Complete the application: Fill out the bursary application form with accurate and up-to-date information.
3. Upload required evidence: Provide the necessary documentation to support your application, such as proof of household income (benefit letters, payslips, etc).
4. Submit your application: Once you have completed all sections and uploaded the required documents, submit your application for review.

Please note, there is no automatic entitlement to a bursary. All awards are subject to individual assessment based on eligibility criteria and available funds.
