This 2-year course has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of the industry. Designed for school leavers or those progressing from a Level 2 Heath & Social Care qualification, who have a keen interest in a career in the health sector and wish to study at an advanced level whilst also gaining invaluable “on the job” experience.

  • Core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology

  • Further knowledge of both human anatomy and physiology and of diseases and disorders
  • Infection prevention and control

How you will learn

This course will be delivered in a variety of ways including in a formal classroom setting, e-learning and in real-world environments. At UoDB we offer an enhanced student experience with guest speakers, and related excursions and workshops.  

As part of the T Level programme, you are required to complete a minimum of 315 hours industry placement with a local employer, equivalent to 9 weeks. 

Careers

Students who achieve this qualification could look forward to a future career as an ambulance care assistant, emergency care assistant, care worker, palliative care assistant or dental nurse.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of a five Grade 5 GCSEs including English language, maths and science.

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 on 31 August 2025, you will not usually pay tuition fees for your course. Most full-time college-level study programmes are fully funded for this age group.

However, you may still have additional costs, including: travel to and from college, uniforms, kits, and equipment, educational trips, meals while at college, childcare (if applicable).
