Family support through technical innovation and artistic and cultural participation

Date and time

07.30 - 11.00

As South Korea is expected to become a "super-aged society" by 2026 with over a fifth of its population aged 65 or older, and traditional family structures have been weakened, innovation in family support is an important investment. Arts-based participation is another innovative avenue, through which family support related topics were explored. Creative methods can facilitate individual and collective expressions and changes, in particular taboo societal issues.

Recent research on dementia in the UK explored participation in cultural events and arts engagements as a means of ‘co -producing’ interventions with people with dementia and their families to mitigate the reproduction of inequalities between generations and to improve longer-term health outcomes (e.g., quality of life).

Given that the arts and creative industry make substantial contributions to the economy in both countries, this project will bring relevant organisations and academic partners together to exchange their experiences and learn from each other.

This online workshop is taking place on Thursday 21 July, via Zoom.
