Dr Chris Gillespie, Consultant Psychologist, will talk around diabetes becoming a pandemic in society, alongside severe obesity.

Hospital and community services are overwhelmed with the demands what this places on them and the sufferers. Not to mention that 10% of the NHS budget is spent on the condition. There is a hope that advances in technology will enable self management to be more successful, however the psychological and emotional problems that the sufferers experience, often prevent the optimum use of this technology.

This talk is designed to describe the nature of these problems and their resolution so that people with diabetes can make the most of the available technology to assist in their care.

This is a free public lecture aimed at people living with diabetes or working in the healthcare industry.
