Careers support

At the Careers and Employment Service we truly believe in the abilities and potential of all our graduates. That’s why we pledge to support you for three years after you complete your studies. We talk about our three year promise a lot because we’re proud of what we can offer, but what does this mean for you?

As a graduate you can book appointments with our career experts. Our Engagement Officers can support you with CV writing, applications and even provide mock interviews.

Our Careers Consultants can also help with career options, career changes and figuring out your next steps. You can receive support via Skype, Microsoft Teams or telephone.

Create a Graduate Account on the Careers website (login required) to access a host of resources and guides online. Take your Career Pulse, the short self-assessment, which gives you an overview of your current employability skills and provides tailored advice and activities.

You can also access our online jobs board where we advertise graduate vacancies and schemes across the country as well as roles within the region which are exclusive to Derby graduates.

You can also work for the Student Employment Agency for up to three years after graduating too! For exclusive roles in the region email or visit our DRIVEN graduates page on our Careers Hub (login required).

You’re always welcome back on campus, which is why we extend the invitation to our Annual Careers Fair and our employability festival 'Gradfest' to our graduates. Many employers who attend these events recruit recent graduates (up to three years) as well as final year students.

We also run networking events like the graduate garden party, employability panels and webinars which are free to attend. This year many of our events will be virtual so you can attend from wherever you are!
