Addressing Barriers to Student Success Conference

Date and time

10.00 - 15.30

One Friar Gate Square, Derby Campus
One Friar Gate Square
Agard Street

Join us as we reflect on the Office for Students funded: Addressing Barriers to Student Success, Student Attainment Project 2 led by the University of Derby working in collaboration with Solent University and the University of West London, and what lessons can be learnt for the sector.

The issue of BME student attainment is a complex one with no magic bullet that can be administered in order to alleviate institutional concerns but suggests a long term commitment to inclusive practice within the sector (Demack, S 2018). We are in an ever increasing marketised educational system offering higher education that offers an equal experience to all students which can be of benefit both morally and financially within the UK.

This conference offers the opportunity for those working or studying within higher education to discuss and debate concerns relevant to challenges and opportunities to addressing the complexity of achieving student success. Academic staff and students will offer thoughts on this topic and the delegates will be given the opportunity to consider how these issues can be tackled in their own institutions.
