Nature Connections 2017 brings together key people from research and provider communities with an interest in this area. The day will provide a forum for sharing and learning from the latest research and practice in nature connection. The conference will be focussed around the core themes of nature connection outcomes across the lifespan; enabling nature connection; and linking nature connection research and practice. There will also be opportunity to reflect on progress made since Nature Connections 2016.

Keynote Speaker:

  • Mark Cocker: award-winning author, naturalist and environmental tutor
  • James Cross: Chief Executive of Natural England

Call for Abstracts  
Submissions are invited around the core themes of the conference:

  • Nature connection outcomes across the lifespan
  • Enabling nature connection
  • Linking nature connection research and practice
  • Beyond contact with nature to connection

Submissions invited 

  • Presentations on theory, research, case studies and practice - 300 word abstracts, to be proposed for presentation as 12 minute talks.
  • Poster proposals - 300 word abstracts.

Criteria for selection will include alignment with themes, systematic enquiry and clarity of implications.

Delegate Rate £95 - Fee includes lunch and refreshments

Pre-conference Dinner £25 - Monday 26th June, 6.30pm, Zest Derby (Limited spaces available)

Getting to the Venue

The Conference will be held at University of Derby, Kedleston Road Campus on 27 June 2017. Derby is located right in the heart of the East Midlands and easily accessible by road, rail or air.

By Road
The University Campus is located just 8 miles from the M1, Junction 25 and 0.2 miles from the A38.
Please note that free parking will be available onsite, please ask at the security barrier for a parking ticket for the NC Conference. 

By Rail
The closest train station is Derby Station; this is approximately 2.6 miles from our Kedleston Road Campus and will take 10-15 minutes in a taxi.

By Air 
The closest airport is East Midlands, located just 15 miles from the University Campus. This should take around 25 minutes by car. Alternatively Derby Skylink operate a 24 hours bus service, picking up directly outside the terminal building and dropping off at Derby Bus Station. This service runs every 30 minutes during the day and hourly during the night, seven days a week and takes approximately 40 minutes.
