Outreach - Engineering and Technology

The College of Engineering and Technology offers a wide range of outreach activities which can be delivered at your school or college or at one of our campuses.

Our taster sessions are usually led by academic staff and are supported by our subject specialist mentors. The activities have been designed to challenge your students whilst also giving them an opportunity to discover more about the subject area.

Our Outreach Mentors

Our Outreach mentors are current students here at the University of Derby who have undergone training and a full Disclosure and Barring Service check. They work with students from Year 9-13 to promote the idea of Higher Education by using informative presentations, workshops and activities.

They can give their own personal experiences of university, work with groups to dispel myths and show students around the University and other student related areas such as the Halls of Residence and the Students' Union, giving your students a taste of what it is really like to go to university.

Mathematics Activities

Our Mathematics activity brochure details the taster sessions and workshops which we can offer to schools and colleges. These sessions can be delivered either within your school or college or at our Kedleston Road campus. If you choose to bring your students to the University, they will have the opportunity to tour our facilities, speak with current students and get a taste of university life. Built Environment and Product Design Activities

We have a range of taster sessions and activities which can be delivered at your school or college or at our Markeaton Street campus. These sessions are inspired by and contain materials which have been adapted from our undergraduate degree programmes, and will give your students a great opportunity to find out more about the subject area.                     Book onto a Built Environment or Product Design taster session.

If you would like a session which is not in the brochures please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements and the possibility of a bespoke session.
