The IET Faraday Challenge is a national competition with the 4 March event hosted by the University of Derby. The competition is ideal for students who are interested in Science, D&T, Maths or Engineering. Six school teams can compete in the Challenge Day with six Year 8 students each.

The Challenge Days are provided free of charge as part of a national competition. On the day of the challenge, the winning team will be awarded prizes and a trophy for their school. They will also go onto the IET Faraday Challenge league table. Top teams will be invited to a national final at the end of the season.

By taking part in a Challenge Day, students will receive an Industrial Cadets Challenger Award for completing a hands-on problem solving and critical thinking activity. Students will also be eligible to receive a CREST Discovery Award from the British Science Association.
