Our Girls into STEM event aims to engage Year 8 students to start thinking about their GCSE options and future career path through a range of competitive STEM taster sessions. Students will also have the opportunity to meet inspirational women in STEM careers across Derbyshire. This year's theme is sustainability, with all events and activities focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This year's event will be running at our Markeaton Street site. For information on the structure of the event, please refer to the table below. 

Girls into STEM schedule for the day*

9:30-10:00 Arrival

Introduction to Girls into STEM and guest speakers from Rolls-Royce SMR and Meiyume


STEM campus tour & meet employers working in STEM

11:30-12:15 STEM taster session 1 (delivered either by an employer or an academic in STEM)
12:15-13:00 Lunch (please bring a packed lunch)
13:00-13:45 STEM taster session 2 (delivered either by an employer or an academic in STEM)
13:45-14:30 Celebrations, evaluations, and goodbyes
