Law and Criminology

We provide a range of on-site events focusing on law, criminology and social sciences. These events are designed to give your students an insight into university life. We are also able to provide a range of taster workshops for your students. These sessions can take place at either the University or your school or college. Location: Kedleston Road, Markeaton Street, One Friar Gate Square, Derby
Description: This event, based at our Derby Campus, will give your students the opportunity to experience the breadth of courses we have to offer. They will be able to talk to current students, speak with support services such as Admissions, and speak with academics about the courses available at Derby. Students will also receive a guided tour of our real world learning facilities and an optional tour of our Halls of Residence.

Description: Students will be able to examine the risks of radicalisation, how digital environments affect our society, challenges the police face and if there is such a thing as a typical offender. They will also discover what it is like to study policing, criminology and social science at university and how they link to each other.

Description: This exciting event will allow your students to explore topical aspects of law in detail. Students will discuss and debate a variety of modern day scenarios in our on-site law court, as well as taking part in a mock trial.

Description: Have your students ever wanted to know what it is like to be a senior police officer, managing emergency services at the scene of a major town centre disaster? Will they be able to keep a calm, clear head under the pressure? Students will work alongside our lecturers, police trainers, and current policing students to learn about managing a serious incident, and making decisions in a pressured environment, in the same ways we train our professional policing students at the university.
