Engineering, Technology and Maths

We provide a range of on-site events focusing on engineering, technology and maths. These events are designed to give your students an insight into university life. We are also able to provide a range of taster workshops for your students. These sessions can take place at either the University or your school or college. Description: This event, based at our Kedleston Road site, will give your students the opportunity to experience the breadth of courses we have to offer. They will be able to talk to current students, speak with support services such as Admissions, and speak with Academics about the courses available at Derby. Students will also receive a guided tour of our real world learning facilities and an optional tour of our Halls of Residence.

Length of event: Two full days - non residential
Description: This two-day event is aimed at students who have a keen interest in mathematics or computer game development and who are ideally studying analytical and creative subjects such as maths, physics, engineering, and design and technology. The event will provide students with the opportunity to discover the maths behind the magic or to look at two of the core components of game development: game programming and game design. The event will also give students the opportunity to gain an insight into what it would be like to study at university.

Description: This annual event is aimed at girls 14+ along with their parents, family, carers and friends. School and college teachers and lecturers, along with careers advisers, are also welcome to attend to meet women engineers working in a variety of disciplines. This is a fun and motivational evening with the opportunity to put questions to the panel members. For any girls considering a STEM based career, this event will give an insight into different industries along with the range of qualifications and study routes they can take to get there.

Description: Students interested in computer games design or computer games programming are invited to visit the University to trial some of our third year undergraduate computer game creations for the first time. Your students will look around our facilities at our STEM Centre, attend a mini lecture and learn about the world of gaming from our teaching staff, students and industry experts.

Description: Our Engineering Taster Day is designed to raise aspirations within fields of engineering such as software engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and sound engineering. Held in the STEM Centre at our Markeaton Street site the day offers a variety of taster sessions, and a chance to look around some of our amazing facilities and find out what exciting careers are available in this sector.
