What to expect

Every Year 13 student faces the challenge of presenting themselves clearly and confidently in applications, whether for university, apprenticeships, or employment. Writing about themselves is the hardest part of the application process. With UCAS introducing a new format for personal statements, many students are unsure of how to adapt, and our expert-led workshops are designed to bridge that gap.

These workshops give students the tools to write effectively about their skills, achievements, and aspirations. Importantly, the workshops are relevant across all subjects and career paths, whether a student is applying for business, the arts, an apprenticeship in engineering, or their first full-time job. By breaking the process into clear stages, we meet students where they are: from those who haven’t started yet, to those polishing a final draft. Students have the opportunity to choose which workshop will benefit them at the current stage of their writing.

Workshop 1: Brainstorm and Discover

They will explore their skills, achievements, and passions to uncover what makes them unique. We’ll break down the new UCAS format so they know exactly what universities are looking for, and they will leave with a clear plan for their statement.

Workshop 2: Draft and Structure

This hands-on session helps them turn their ideas into a structured, compelling statement. They will learn how to write an engaging opening, organise their experiences effectively, and maintain a strong, authentic voice throughout. By the end, they will have a solid first draft ready for refinement.

Workshop 3: Refine and Perfect

The final workshop focuses on polishing their statement to make it stand out. They will get expert tips on clarity, flow, and impact, as well as personalised feedback to help them showcase their achievements without sounding generic. They will leave confident and ready to submit their best work to you.
