The Degree Show 2024: Made It

Every year, students from the School of Humanities, Law and Creative Arts and the College of Science and Engineering celebrate their time at University by showcasing their work at an end-of-year Degree Show.

The Show is a fantastic opportunity for potential employers, friends, family, industry and members of the public to see exciting creations by the next generation of artists, designers, creators and makers from Derby.

The exhibition sites include Markeaton Street, Chandos Pole Street and Britannia Mill.

Architectural Technologies and Interior Architecture

Final year BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Venue Design and BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology and Practice students had been briefed to redevelop the North Riverside area of Derby city centre to increase green open spaces and blue infrastructure. This area forms one of the priority projects within the Derby Cityscape Masterplan 2030 and ‘Our City, our River’ masterplan.

After a group work master planning phase, students selected an area or building to base their individual projects around. Projects are very comprehensive and concepts must be thoroughly designed with in-depth consideration given to design drivers such as the user, function of spaces, the wider context, existing built assets and environmental sustainability. BA students gave a greater emphasis to interior architecture, whereas BSc students concentrated on the technical aspects of architecture such as construction details and materiality.
