Emily Wildsmith, BA (Hons) Events Management (Two Year)
I chose to study Events Management as I wanted a change in career and to further my education. It has been really hands on so far with a lot of opportunities for experience and the lectures are really interesting.
A Supportive Network
The lecturers at Derby and very friendly and helpful. They are always willing to listen, however small the question, and have experience within the industry so use examples to make the lectures and tutorials come to life more.
I want to work within corporate events in the future and the course is definitely giving me the essential knowledge and most importantly the practical experience. The university are very keen to help out and provide an employability portal with job/volunteer opportunities which is great. Buxton is lovely small town and everyone is really friendly.
A Rewarding Experience
Getting involved in real life events is challenging and rewarding. The course helps you grow as a person with having to do presentations, working in groups and individual work, all preparing you for working life.
I currently work as an Events and Marketing Coordinator at JCB Finance. I assist with and organise events and marketing activity within the company and studying this course is providing the theory and practical knowledge that assists my job role. It has also helped me gain confidence to do things I wouldn’t necessarily have been comfortable doing before.
I would definitely recommend this Events Management course to anyone that wants to go into the industry as you get all the support you need and the facilities are great. The Dome is an amazing building and events venue which provides great opportunities for experience. I like the fact that it is a small campus.
In my opinion this is the best Events course in the UK as you are learning in a real life events venue, which provides you with all of the experience you need to go straight into work. It is a small campus so you get to know the lecturers on a personal level and you receive the attention that you need.
