Liz Atkins
Professor of Vocational Education and Social Justice

Professor Liz Atkins is a leading scholar in the field of vocational education and training (VET). She has published widely on her concerns about how VET helps low-attaining young people move from school to work and associated ethical/methodological and social justice issues. Her recent book with Duckworth (2019) is Research Methods for Social Justice and Equity in Education (Bloomsbury).

Professor of Post-Compulsory Education

Professor James Avis is Professor of Post-Compulsory Education at the University of Derby. His research currently focuses on the policy context surrounding vocational education and training, with additional interests in intersectionality social justice, waged labour and the impact of socio-economic change on the sector.

Sharon Bell, Head of Discipline for Education, Childhood and Inclusion at the University of Derby. 

Programme Lead: iPGCE

Andy Bloor is a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Programme Lead for the iPGCE. His fields of interest is around International and Comparative education and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties in children, particularly those with Attachment Disorder and neuro-atypical children.

Jenny Boldrin is a Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies Degree and the Academic Lead for the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies Online Top Up.

Collaborative Partnerships Manager, Institute of Education

Helen's role is to manage the Institute of Education's programmes that are delivered by our collaborative partners across the UK and internationally. She also looks after the Derby English Language Centre (DELC) which plays an instrumental role in supporting international recruitment and provides programmes and language support for international students
